Background Remover

Take the background out of a photo in a few seconds — people, products, pets, logos. Keep it transparent, or put white, a colour, a blur or your own picture behind. Free, no sign-up, and your photo never leaves your device.

How it works

Most background removers upload your photo to a server. Kitwise does it on your own device: the first time, your browser downloads a small open-source AI model (U²-Net, about 5 MB, Apache 2.0 licence) and ONNX Runtime, then finds the main subject of the photo and makes the rest transparent. After that it works even on slow connections.

The edges are refined with the photo's own detail (a guided filter), so hair and soft edges look natural. If the AI misses a spot — a hand, a bag, a strand of hair — use the Erase and Restore brushes to fix it, with Undo for every stroke.

Download a transparent PNG for logos, product photos and stickers, or a JPG with a white or coloured background for marketplaces such as Daraz and OLX, CNIC/passport-style photos and profile pictures. “Use in Design Maker” puts the cut-out straight into a new design.

How to use the Background Remover, step by step

  1. Choose a photo, drag it here or paste it (Ctrl+V).
  2. Wait a few seconds while the subject is found (the first time also downloads the model).
  3. Pick a background: Transparent, white, a colour, blurred original or your own picture.
  4. Fix any mistakes with Erase / Restore. Hold “Compare” to see the original.
  5. Download PNG (transparent) or JPG, or press Use in Design Maker.

Tips

  • Clear subject, good light and a background that differs in colour from the subject give the cleanest result.
  • For products, shoot on a plain table or sheet; then choose a white background for marketplaces.
  • Big photos are processed at up to 2400 pixels on the longest side — plenty for social media and A4 prints.

Questions

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

Free, with no watermark and no limit on photos.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The AI runs in your browser. Only the model and runtime are downloaded (once) from this site and jsDelivr.

Why is the first photo slow?

The first time, about 5 MB is downloaded. After that the browser keeps it and each photo takes a few seconds.

It cut off part of my subject. What can I do?

Choose Restore and paint over the missing part; choose Erase to remove leftovers. Undo works for every stroke.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on modern phones. Very old phones may be slow.
